The ESF Network “Ultrafast Structural Dynamics in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Material Science” DYNA (http://lsu.epfl.ch/dyna) is sponsoring the XVI Ultrafast Phenomena Conference (UP2008) providing financial support for about 30 fellowships.

The fellowships are reserved to PhD Students of European nationality, performing their research activity in European institutions, who have their paper accepted at UP2008 conference. Priority is given to participants from countries which financially support the Network DYNA (Czech Republic, Finland, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and UK). A limited number of participants from other European countries will be also considered.

The fellowship covers traveling and hotel expenses, but not the conference registration fee. Low registration fees are applied for PhD Students (consult the conference web-site).

Application procedure (application form pdf and doc):
Be amongst the authors of a paper submitted to UP2008.
Submit the enclosed application form countersigned by the PhD Student Supervisor.
Deadline for submission is January 31st 2008.

Selection procedure:
Consideration will be given to PhD students whose paper will be accepted by the Conference Program Committee.
Priority is according to the following criteria: (i) ranking will take into account the scores assigned to the papers by the program committee; (ii) no more than a fellowship per research group/institution will be assigned.

Notification of the outcome of the selection will be sent out by March 15th. The selected PhD Students will be contacted in due time in order to arrange the details of their permanence at Stresa.
